A Byte of Advice was first opened in June of 1990. The focus was on Database application programming using O'Hanlon Sensible Solutions and Oracle tools 2.x on Oracle Databases 5.x. The major clients were the Fruit and Tomato Canning industry and Aircraft Fastener suppliers. The biggest challenges were creating reports using Oracles RPT. After 48 Oracle Forms, programming using Forms 2.x became second nature.

In 1992 A Byte of Advice shutdown for retooling and signed on at an Environmental Laboratory to program an Oracle based application called SeedpakTM from a company called Automated Compliance Systems or ACS. This application is a Laboratory Information Management System or LIMS and is used primarily for Environmental Laboratories. After a medium stint in the Laboratory, we joined forces with ACS and worked several years as an on-site customization team.

In 1996 A Byte of Advice reopened its doors focusing on the LIMS market and specializing in the ACS Seedpak LIMS. In 1999 A Byte of Advice incorporated and is now known as A Byte of Advice, Inc. A Byte of Advice started its Web presence in 1997 and has slowly transformed these pages into what you are currently viewing.

Currently, A Byte of Advice is working to create new access for clients using the Web. We are developing a Web based front end for the Seedpak LIMS using tools such as ColdFusion.
